contest!
A contest will be announced in the summer issue of Knitty, but you heard it here first. Design a Frankenknits logo. Winner will get the very first Frankenknits t-shirt. How cool is that? T-shirts will be done at cafePress. You can get details on what sort of images work best here. Deadline August 1, 2006. |

I have squat-minus for artistic abilities unless knitting is involved, so anyone who likes this idea, run with it. It may be obvious, but the knobs at the side of Frankenstein's monster's neck could be replaced with knitting needles. And the stitches across the forehead could be done as a representation of Kitchener stitch.

Hey - I'd like get all of your designs for free - plus some free product. Oh, I'll give you a tee-shirt in exchange.
Show some respect to graphic designers and logo designers.
Remember you get what you pay for.

Perhaps before posting a comment like this, you should realize that I have, for years, given away lots of MY pattern designs for free. In Knitty, on my own website, and other places. Why? Because I genuinely enjoy what I do and am excited to share it with other people.
And regardless of what sort of designer you are, having your stuff in public is building your portfolio. Working for free sometimes has big payback later.
